Augsburg, Germany. It all began in the “Pfladermühle,” a 1,000-year old gristmill that Dr. Felix Grandel inherited from his mother in 1936. Dr. F. Grandel was a chemist and nutritionist and had little interest in the production of flour. Instead, he was drawn to the mill’s by-products, wheat germ and bran, and the search for ways to preserve and make them useful for human nutrition.
In 1947, Dr. Grandel founded Keimdiät GmbH at the original mill site. Keimdiät translates into English literally as “diet of wheat germ,” and, as the name suggests, the young company’s first range of health products was based on wheat germ. These products remain extremely popular today as a natural source of vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber.
Michael GrandelIn 1985, Felix Grandel’s son Michael, a graduate in economics, took over the helm of the independently managed company. The company is still family-owned, and has become a major manufacturer of brand-name natural health and beauty products. Today DR. GRANDEL is an international company, and our subsidiaries and branches in more than 40 countries distribute our products worldwide and help continue the excellent reputation of the DR. GRANDEL, PHYRIS and ARABESQUE brands.
DR.GRANDEL skin care has been available for over 60 years, and is in over 40 countries and now finally available in New Zealand.

At DR. GRANDEL, very close attention is paid to the wishes of our customers and end users. We’re not interested in following short-term trends or fashion fads, but instead pursue a strategy of creating both products and treatments that are as innovative as they are unique.
In formulating its exclusive facial and body skin care preparations, DR. GRANDEL relies first and foremost on carefully selected raw materials and active ingredients taken directly from nature, which then undergo sophisticated processing in our production stages. The result is a line of top-quality cosmetics that are highly effective and extremely well tolerated – and that easily rank with very best in the world. All DR. GRANDEL skin and body care products are produced in accordance with original recipes at our state-of-the-art plant in Augsburg, Germany – where even the essential wheat germ-based raw materials are made in-house.
DR. GRANDEL cosmetics are produced in line with stringent quality guidelines similar to the regulations governing the manufacture of pharmaceuticals. The strict application of hygienic and process controls also helps to keep the use of preservatives to a minimum. The result is made-in-Germany top quality.
DR. GRANDEL cosmetics are tested on human volunteers, always in collaboration with leading dermatologists – and never in animal experiments.
